Man Receiving Botox Treatment To Enhance His Masculine Appearance

Injectables for Men- A Guide

The world of injectables is highly effective at treating many unwanted cosmetic problems men face. You may assume that things like BOTOX or dermal fillers are just for women, but you couldn’t be more mistaken. These treatments are relevant to men and can help you deal with some of the common signs of aging.  When used correctly, injectables can improve your facial contours, giving you a more striking and ‘masculine’ look.

We’ve created a guide to help you understand injectables and how they can help you treat and prevent various facial concerns.

BOTOX for Men

BOTOX is the brand name for a popular neurotoxin injection using botulinum toxin. Essentially, this injection works because BOTOX interacts with sensors in your face. More specifically, it restricts the messages sent between sensors and your brain, stopping the muscles from contracting. It targets the tiny muscles in your face that are usually active when pulling common expressions – like frowning, squinting, etc.

The main benefit of BOTOX is that it can prevent wrinkles from forming on your face. By relaxing the muscles and stopping repetitive movements, wrinkles are unable to form. It’s a great preventative treatment option for men that want to avoid deep forehead lines or crow’s feet around the eyes.

When used regularly, Botox can even train the facial muscles most responsible for the development or deepening of fine lines and wrinkles, leading to an enduring reduction in premature signs of aging.

Dermal Fillers for Men

On the other hand, dermal fillers work in a completely different way. Often these fillers contain hyaluronic acid, like Juvederm dermal fillers. When this is injected into your face, it helps to plump up the skin and fill in sunken areas. Dermal fillers typically last a few months before a follow-up injection may be needed.

As a result, many men are using dermal fillers to combat gaunt and sunken cheeks. Dermal fillers can bring more structure to your face and minimize sagging and a loose-looking face. An additional benefit is that fillers also highlight your jawline or cheekbones, providing a more masculine and chiseled look.

At Pinnacle Plastic Surgery, we offer dermal filler injectables for men’s hands too. As we age, we can lose some of the naturally occurring tissues and connective fibers beneath our skin. This leads to weaker, older, thinner hands—the opposite of the strong, masculine hands you may have enjoyed in your youth. Dermal fillers can restore volume between bones, muscle, and joints for fewer wrinkles, less loose skin, and a fuller look all around.

What’s the difference between injectables for men and women?

The exact same Botox and dermal filler products are used for both men and women. The only difference is in how they’re used. Women are more likely to use BOTOX or dermal fillers to enhance certain features—like improving lip plumpness. On average, men use injectables to treat the signs of aging and to restore a more youthful and masculine look to their faces and hands.

One of the benefits of injectables is that they don’t take long to administer. The process can last a few minutes, and dermal fillers have hardly any side effects so you can continue the rest of your day. BOTOX does require a bit of recovery time afterward, but you can get back to work within a day or so.
