Your Lips Can Say So Much about Your Age

Written by Dr. Audrey Klenke, MD, FACS

Lips Can Say More Than Just Words

What do yours say about you? Many of us wish we had fuller, smoother lips? Injectable fillers, lip implants or a surgical lip lift can lift the corners of your mouth, refine the central dimple of your upper lip and diminish those annoying wrinkles that cause your lipstick to bleed.

Injectable fillers act as a volumizer to keep your lips plump for months at a time. Fillers can also be used to enhance and define the border of your lips. One treatment can produce the look you desire and commonly lasts 6 months before it’s time to re-inject.

Permanent silicone lip implants create fuller lips without the need for repetitive treatments. The implants are inserted through tiny incisions at the corners of the mouth. Lip implant surgery is a quick office procedure that can be done with only local anesthesia.

A surgical lip lift can also reshape your lips, making the pink border more prominent. There are two types of lip lift. An upper lip lift shortens the distance between your upper lip edge and the base of your nose giving you a fuller looking pout. A corner lip lift focuses on elevating the corners of your mouth – think “turn that frown upside down.” Another bonus tip: Botox®. That’s right, a tiny bit of Botox® placed in the DAO (a muscle that causes us to frown) will help with corner lip elevation.

Once you are happy with your lips, why not step up your game and meet with our permanent make-up artist for some long-lasting lip color that doesn’t budge? If your goal is to wake-up and go without a long make-up routine, this is a great option for you.

Well defined lips can literally take years off your appearance, giving you a happy, youthful, confident look – and that’s not just lip service.
