The aging process also contributes to changes in the face, such as sagging cheeks and jowls. The evolution of facial implants allows the surgeons at Pinnacle Plastic Surgery to address your concerns with natural-looking results.

Facial Implants FAQs

Facial implants can result in drastic changes to the appearance of your chin, jaw, and cheeks. Like other lasting cosmetic procedures, it’s essential to know your specific goals when meeting with your surgeon. Patients are advised to research examples of the facial features they desire and to provide images during their consultation.

Cheek implants are most often placed through incisions in the mouth. When performed with other procedures, alternate incisions may be recommended, including placement through an incision inside the lower eyelid or one within the hairline.

For a chin implant, the incision may be inside your mouth, along the crease that joins your lower lip and gums. An incision just beneath the chin is an alternative.

Jaw implants are generally placed through the mouth with incisions along the jawline at the crease where the inside of your cheek and gums meet. Your incisions will be closed with absorbable sutures or stitches that will be removed within one to two weeks following your surgery.

Cheek, chin, and jaw implants are generally made of silicone molded to achieve the desired shape. In some cases, implants may be made of medpor–a porous polyethylene also sculpted to fit.

Facial implants become permanent features. Unlike temporary fillers injected on a recurring basis, facial implants don’t require regularly scheduled appointments. Similarly, facial implants produce reliable results while the results of facial fillers may vary from injection to injection.

The recovery period for a facial implant procedure is comparatively mild when considering the aesthetic impact of the procedure itself. Most patients are advised to take at least one week off from work. Medication manages any discomfort you may have as you heal more fully in your own time.

Patients can see the benefits of facial implants immediately. As swelling and bruising dissipate over the weeks and months following the procedure, patients will realize the more lasting and settled changes to their face.
